Salzburg bash the bookies to put Celtic in the Europa League driving seat

RB Salzburg defied the bookies to beat RB Leipzig 1-0 to open up a place in the last 32 of the Europa League for Celtic.

With the hoops leading 1-0 away to Rosenborg thanks to a Scott Sinclair header Fredrik Gulbrandsen scored the only goal of the goal in Austria to ensure that Salzburg progressed.

Despite having won their first four group matches Salzburg were priced at 3/1 to win on home soil against the side that they beat away from home on Match Day 1.

Celtic are now three points ahead of Leipzig going into the final group match knowing that a draw at home to Salzburg will see them progress beyond Christmas.

Brendan Rodgers’ side dominated for 90 minutes against the Norwegian champions while keeping an eye on events elsewhere.

If Rosenborg take anything from their final match away to Leipzig Celtic will go through but a home point against a side with a 100% record will mean that events in Germany are meaningless.
