Yesterday Dolly Menga was offered a two match suspension for his attempted head-butt on Ryan Christie.
If accepted he’ll miss the games against the Rangers club formed in 2012 by Charles Green and Motherwell.
Meanwhile Celtic missed out on playing against 10 men for 70 minutes.
4 players charged with violent conduct in games vs Celtic that refs missed & should’ve lead to red cards
RFC awarded more penalties that all other teams combined
RFC reds overturned
Twice reds for Alan McGregor missed
All stops out to stop 8 never mind 10 ????
Why we’re paranoid— 606AlfieConn (@606AlfieConn) November 13, 2018
Referee Kevin Clancy called both players together, had a stern word with the Livi attacker and did nothing. Later in the first half Menga bundled Christie into the net as they waited on a corner.
Clancy will continue getting the top matches, picking up the bigger fees.
It’s the second time this season his judgement has been called into question by the SFA. In August the red card he issued to Alfredo Morelos against Aberdeen for kicking out at Scott McKenna was downgraded to a yellow card.
One third of the way into the season there has been a consistent run of refereeing inconsistencies.
Menga joins McKenna and Steven MacLean in the list of players to be given a retrospective punishment after a referee missed a red card offence in a game against Celtic.
Steven Naismith and Allan McGregor escaped similar justice thanks to their status as Scotland internationals.
Any trophy win that Celtic achieve is a minor miracle won against the odds, against the dark arts.
If Brendan Rodgers’ side lift the SPFL trophy at the end of this season no-one should forget the circumstances that they had to overcome to succeed.
