Ryan Christie starts his first competitive international tonight as Scotland face Albania.

The Celtic midfielder has been in outstanding form recently, signing a new three year contract, and looks like playing just off Steven Fletcher who is named as the sole striker.

Depending on your definition of a call off it’s believed that there are nine players unavailable to McLeish who were in the original squad.

Stephen O’Donnell, Charlie Mulgrew, Craig Gordon and Kevin McDonald pulled out last weekend after missing out with their clubs.

Ryan Jack was called in as a replacement only to call off with Mikey Devlin, John McGinn and Kieran Tierney pulling out during the course of the week.

If Scotland lose tonight the best that they can hope for is to be part of a three way tie in the group by beating Israel at Hampden on Tuesday.

A crowd of around 22,000 is expected for that match although a win tonight could push the attendance to over 25,000.

Should Scotland top their group they will be two play-off ties away from winning a place at the 2020 European Championship Finals.

SCOTLAND: McGregor; Paterson, Bates, McKenna, Robertson; Forrest, McGregor, Armstrong, Christie, Fraser; Fletcher

SUBS: Bain, MacDonald, Hendry, Shinnie, Mackay-Steven, McTominey, Philips, McBurnie, Russell
