Within two minutes of Celtic’s 3-0 win at Hamilton the abysmal standard of Scottish referees was exposed.

Thirteen days ago at Livingston Craig Thomson decided not to send off Dolly Menga when the Livingston forward head-butted Ryan Christie, the SFA handed Mega a retrospective two match suspension.

As Celtic pushed down the left Odsonne Edouard turned inside the penalty box and shaped up to put the ball across goal.

Slipping as he tried to keep close to the Frenchman Matt Kilgannon could see what was coming next and dived full length to stop the delivery.

Don Robertson had a clear view, watched it develop, saw Kilgannon block the ball with his left arm and allowed play to continue.

Kilgannon deliberately handed the ball in the penalty box and got away with it.

Celtic went on to win the match 3-0, they weren’t so fortunate when Thomson made his honest mistake at Livingston.

Goal difference is unlikely to be decisive at the top of the table, it could be at the bottom with Kilgannon able to play in a match that he should have been suspended from.

Robertson has refereed three of Celtic’s 13 Premiership matches so far this season.
