The EPL is facing upto a supporter backlash.
Yesterday it emerged that clubs had been asked to fund a £5m golden farewell to outgoing Chief Executive Peter Scudamore.
With a salary in excess of £2m the 59-year-old shouldn’t be short of cash on his retirement with a lucrative list of consultancies lined up to choose from. From the last television contract Scudamore ‘earned’ a reported bonus of £11m.
Every Premier League club has been asked for to pay £250k so Richard Scudamore can be given a £5m farewell gift! ????
So @Laura_Woodsy is asking…
Would you be happy for your club to give £250,000 to Richard Scudamore? ????

Asking clubs to contribute £250k each to hand Scudamore (who has been VERY well paid by the PL for 19 years) is both indescribably ccrass and morally wrong. #STOPTHEPAYMENT

Football is so broken and unethical when it comes to financial and money issues…
There greed is horrendous from #fifa all the way down to the lower leagues and individuals…#Greed— Villain (@Villain1982) November 14, 2018
Every prem club could let the fans in for free home and away one weekend instead! I’m sure he’s got a big enough bank balance by now to live comfortably for the rest of his life.

While Scudamore, the club chief executives and agents wallow in dosh that flows straight out of the country, at grass roots level facilities are no better than they were 20 years ago.
A lack of all weather facilities sees football come to a virtual halt through the winter months as the FA pours money into maintaining Wembley and the elite St George’s Park.
Scudamore’s pay off amounts to a £250,000 donation from each club in the top flight.
Getting each club to pledge that sum to a local sports centre would be a more meaningful legacy for Scudamore but is clearly an alien concept to the clubs swimming in cash generated by Sky Sports which as ever is comes out of the pockets of supporters.
