Jack Aitchison scored twice as Scotland’s u-19 side crushed San Marino 5-0 in Wales today.

The result leaves Billy Stark’s squad requiring just a draw in their final group match, against Sweden on Tuesday, to top the group and progress to the final qualifying stage for a place in the finals next May which will be staged in Armenia.

Celtic team-mates Ryan Mullen, Daniel Church and Kerr McInroy dropped out from the side that beat Wales 2-1 on Wednesday but there was still places for Stephen Welsh and Robbie Deas in the centre of defence.

Scotland were already one up when Aitchison scored his first in the 23rd minute with the Celtic striker putting Stark’s side 4-0 up in the 40th minute.

Aberdeen’s Seb Ross scored the final goal in a 5-0 win.

In the other group match Wales beat Sweden 2-1 leaving both countries in three points ahead of Tuesday’s final matches with Scotland completing the group at the Belle Vue Stadium in Rhyl.
