Ryan Jack has pulled out of the Scotland squad in mysterious circumstances.

The Sevco midfielder was called in as a replacement on Sunday night after a spate of players bailed out of the double header with Albania and Israel.

Presumably McLeish and the Scotland staff checked out Jack’s fitness before calling him into the squad but less than 48 hours the former Aberdeen starlet has departed.

Jack managed to complete the full 90 minutes on Sunday as Sevco beat Motherwell 7-1.

Under McLeish Scotland have suffered from a stampede of players making themselves unavailable for various reasons.

So far this season Tom Cairney has rediscovered his English roots, James McArthur is concentrating on Crystal Palace duty. Robert Snodgrass and Matt Ritchie both decided to be unavailable for this international squad.

Over the weekend Stephen O’Donnell, Kevin McDonald, Craig Gordon and Charlie Mulgrew withdrew due to injury.

While in charge of the old Rangers club McLeish picked up £1.7m in disguised remuneration which is now subject to income tax, national insurance, penalties and interest following a Supreme Court ruling in July 2017.
