Under fire Steven Gerrard ducked out of media duties today.

Assistant manager Gary McAllister was put up in front of the media today to preview tomorrow’s clash with St Mirren.

Gerrard has cut an increasingly frustrated and agitated figure in recent weeks as the wheels come off his bandwagon and reality kicks in.

Draws against Spartak Moscow and Kilmarnock either side of the Betfred Cup defeat from Aberdeen has put the former Liverpool u-18 coach in the firing line for angry fans expecting the club to win their first ever major honour.

Gerrard has blamed the players for the downturn in recent performances and expects to be given funds in January to go into the transfer market despite the company announcing losses of £14.3m in the year to June 2018.

The draw with Kilmarnock left the tribute act in joint fourth place in the Premiership table with 18 points from 10 matches, the same total as Hibs and Livingston.
