Sevco have picked the wrong enemy by falling out with Channel 4 News.
A petty fall out with BBC Scotland leads to a predictable response with the local branch of the state broadcaster going that extra mile to portray the Ibrox company in a good light.
Former players are given a platform to talk up anything and everything associated with the club with anything less than rosy neatly body-swerved.
According to the Daily Record a Rangers spokesperson said: “It is simple – it was agreed that any interview around the Steven Gerrard documentary would be predominantly film focused.
“There was an interview scheduled for today but it became clear the journalist’s questions were not in keeping with this agreement, so the interview did not go ahead.
“Steven Gerrard is accommodating and wide ranging in his dealings with the media and it is not true to suggest today’s interview was cancelled because of questions relating to another manager.”
This response from Rangers is flatly untrue.

BBC Scotland have still to mention the defeat to Sports Direct on the latest legal leg of the retail battle while only agency copy has been used to discuss £14m of losses published on the evening of a match.
Channel 4 News take a slightly more distanced approach.
If you mess them around they will rightly conclude that you have something to hide, they may delve further into the matter.
Alex Thomson broadcast difficult questions for a while but has much bigger issues to cover than the secret ways of a football company in Glasgow that enjoys special arrangements with the authorities.
Ciaran Jenkins won’t be happy at having a day of his time wasted, his employer will expect some follow up, he may decide to look into those off topic issues independently.
Channel 4 News viewers may get a report on sectarianism or anti-Irish racism that looks at the issue factually and not through the traditional excuse of ‘they’re doing all they can’.
