Dave King will have a court appearance on his mind tonight as he enjoys a big Europa League night at Ibrox.

For almost four years the South African based criminal has been evading justice following his 2014 takeover at Ibrox.

Today at the Court of Session in Edinburgh Lady Wolffe heard evidence from the Takeover Appeal Panel on their attempts to get King to comply with UK law.

Since the TOP got involved in the case they have attempted to ‘nanny’ King through the process despite various artificial objections to offering a fair deal to shareholders outwith King’s concert party.

Easyjambo of Scottish Football Monitor had this update from the Court of Session:

Proceedings over for today. TOP called three witnesses, two TOP people and a South African lawyer who was an expert in SA exchange controls, and have closed their case.

King and Blair will be the only defence witnesses tomorrow.

Complying with the law would have cost King around £3.5m to a few groups of shareholders, mainly those associated with the ousted regime including the Easdale brothers.

King has come up with a range of excuses to explain why he hasn’t put his money in an escrow account and prepared a prospectus.

It seems certain that the Ibrox supremo will be hot with a large fine and suspended jail sentence, if he refuses to pay the fine he will have to remain in South Africa fighting extradition.

Since the summer King has also lost two legal battles with Sports Direct with costs and damages still to be agreed.
