Celtic fans are already anticipating the return of Graeme Murty.

The Reading legend has twice taken over as caretaker manager at Ibrox with today’s results increasing the chances of a third stint in the Ibrox hot-seat with pressure mounting on Steven Gerrard.

Murty’s last match in charge was in May as Celtic clinched the title with a 5-0 win in the Glasgow derby. After avoiding the media following that defeat Jimmy Nicholl took over for the final three games of the season.

Twice this month the Ibrox club have been at the top of the table but instantly lost their lead in the next match. During Celtic’s match at Aberdeen today they were twice in second place in the ‘As It Stands’ table, by 5pm the hoops were three points clear with a game in hand.

As the hoops supporters got on their buses to return from Pittodrie word emerged from Ibrox that Darren McGregor had scored a late equaliser.

Gerrard’s side were booed off the pitch as Neil Lennon celebrated taking a point, if they lead at the top of the table is extended at the weekend Murty will be looking out his old anorak and dusting down his upbeat management cliches.
