As 2018 draws towards a close Celtic fans have plenty of celebrations to look back on and relive.

No generation has ever witnessed a Double Treble with one leg also completed of a Treble Treble as Brendan Rodgers powers the club forward on all fronts.

May’s Scottish Cup win over Motherwell was the highlight for most fans with thousands flocking to Celtic Park to welcome home the victorious squad.

Not since Jock Stein steered a single decker off London Road into Kerrydale Street 51 years earlier has there been such a welcome party.

The football at Hampden had been average but the celebrations that followed were certainly of the Champions League variety as supporters indulged in the present while acknowledging the rich history of the club.

From Hampden through Polmadie and Dalmarnock supporters gathered to recognise the success striven by the Irishman that had taken charge of the club two years earlier.

When Rodgers arrived 15,000 turned up to welcome him to the club, no one present could have guessed at the standards and success that was to follow.

SPFL CHAMPIONS 2018

It has become something of a ritual, a Scottish Cup semi-final win over the tribute act followed by an emphatic win in the SPFL.

The title had effectively been won at the start of March when a 3-2 win at Ibrox left Graeme Murty and his deluded squad totally crushed, a 4-0 win in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup rubbed salt deep into the wounds.

Now three points were needed to win the title for a seventh season with Andy Halliday and his pals providing the resistance.

By half time it was 3-0, ten minutes into the second half it was 5-0 but it was another number that was on the minds of supporters. TEN.

BETFRED CUP WINNERS 2018

Success is never predictable, it throws together various factors but no-one could have predicted the role that Ryan Christie was to play.

In the final year of his contract, even up until mid October he looked like the nice guy that fell short, heart in the right place but just falling short. No hard feelings, good luck and move on. And then came Murrayfield.

A hamstring injury to Olivier Ntcham opened the door, Christie battered it down and left his stamp all over the semi-final as Hearts were swatted aside.

He wasn’t finished however, throughout November his influence on the team grew with the goals continuing through to Hampden and the winning goal against Aberdeen in the final of the Betfred Cup.
