Neil Lennon has confirmed his interest in Scott Allan.

The midfielder has already had two spells at Hibs and is out of contract at the end of this season.

Allan hasn’t made the Celtic bench since the Champions League qualifiers in January and hasn’t played in any reserve matches.

His Celtic wages couldn’t be matched by any other Scottish club but with seven pay days left Lennon is hoping that he can entice the midfielder back to Edinburgh.

Scott’s under contract, I don’t want to start headlines but he’s a player we like,” the Hibs boss told The Sun.

These kinds of players cost a lot of money but if there was an opportunity there we’d look at it, obviously.

I’ll definitely look at a couple of areas which will help with the way we want to play and I’ll try and find the right type to come in and do that.

It’s been a funny season – it’s fluctuated for a lot of teams.

We had a good start and then a pretty poor run by our own standards and hopefully we can start picking up points again.”

Allan has been out on loan at Rotherham, Dundee and Hibs since signing for Celtic in 2015 while Ronny Deila was manager.

Celtic won’t be expecting any transfer fee for 27-year-old but are unlikely to offer any sort of pay off for the remainder of his contract.

Hibs were linked with a move for Allan during the summer but on the back of the John McGinn saga no business was done between the two clubs.
