Gordon Sawyers won’t be feeling quite so smug this morning.

The man known bizarrely as ‘Killie super fan’ was reveling in his side’s lofty status after Kevin Clancy ensured that Celtic dropped points at Motherwell.

Wednesday’s results put Killie into top spot, a point ahead of Celtic but wisely manager Stevie Clarke wasn’t arranging laps of honour or DVD releases.

It didn’t take long for Sawyers to realise that he was watching the seven times champions at their best with James Forrest opening the scoring with a brilliant volley.

Before half time the hoops were 4-0 in front with all of the goals coming at the end where the Killie fans were housed.

There was a goal for each side in the second half with referee Nick Walsh gifting the visitors a penalty which ultimately counted for little.

As big Gordy settles down to his Corn Flakes this morning the SPFL Premiership table looks less appealing although it does have a more familiar look to it.
