Tomorrow is the first of 31 days for Celtic to begin making up for the two disastrous transfer windows of 2018.

A loan deal for Timothy Weah seems close to being concluded but hoops supporters are looking for much more than a teenage striker to challenge 20-year-old Odsonne Edouard.

Getting together a squad to win the SPFL title and get through four Champions League qualifying ties is the target with major surgery required- especially in defence.

After the summer transfer window secured Edouard, Scott Bain, Emilio Izaguirre, Youssuf Mulumbu plus loans for Filip Benkovic and Daniel Arzani expectations for January are high with the emphasis surely on ready made first team players rather than projects.

Asked after the defeat at Ibrox about bringing new players in Rodgers told the Daily Record.

That would be the plan. The squad needs reinforcements, so we are hoping to do that. We’ve always had the feeling for what we need to add to the squad to improve it, so nothing today has changed that.”

Celtic resume training on Saturday with a week in Dubai to sharpen the players up after ten matches in December.
