Late on Tuesday night the defender posted a video which included a brief clip of a contract document.
That video sparked speculation that he could be about to commit himself to Celtic despite being a free agent in six months time.
Boyata can sign a pre-contract agreement elsewhere from January 1 with Rodgers keen to find out the meaning of the video message.
“I’m probably anti-social media, so I haven’t a clue what goes on there.
“I’ll speak to him tomorrow and hopefully he will enlighten me.”
Boyata was the subject of a £9m offer from Fulham during the summer which was turned down by Celtic.
That sparked a stand off with the club that saw the defender miss out on the Champions League qualifiers against AEK Athens.
At one stage it looked like Boyata wouldn’t play again for Celtic but Rodgers used his man management skills to get the 28-year-old back on board.
Boyata is currently out injured after picking up a hamstring strain during the 1-0 Betfred Cup Final win over Aberdeen at Hampden.
