Celtic are about to offer Scott Brown a new contract that will include the promise of a future coaching role.

The midfielder has struggled to regain his place in the side after being out injured but proved his worth when he was introduced at half-time against RB Salzburg.

In recent seasons Brown has been signing 12 month contract extensions but according to The Sun the hoops skipper is in line for an extended deal.

SunSport can reveal Rodgers has sanctioned a two-year deal to be slapped down on the table in an attempt to keep hold of the 33-year-old midfielder.

The offer includes the promise of a coaching role at the end of it.

But it’s understood newly-formed Aussie outfit Western Melbourne could be willing to pay Brown as much as DOUBLE his current wages in a bid to lure him Down Under.

Agent Lou Sticca is the man putting together a lucrative three-year deal with a formal offer set to be made next week.

Brown also has interest from the MLS with Sporting Kansas City and Minnesota United both keeping tabs on his situation.

Brown was Celtic’s record signing when Gordon Strachan agreed a £4.4m deal to sign the midfielder from Hibs in 2007, it wasn’t until the signing of Olivier Ntcham a decade later that that fee was matched.

Last season he swept the board at the Player of the Year awards but the emergence of Ryan Christie and adaptability of Callum McGregor has provided real options for Brendan Rodgers in the centre of the park.
