Over the last week the SFA’s elite referees have been involved in a number of baffling decisions that have impacted on the outcome of matches
a) Alfredo Morelos scored from a clearly offside position in the Hearts v Ibrox tribute act SPFL match
b) Bobby Madden ignores multiple fouls by Alfredo Morelos against Hearts, telling one Hearts player that the striker can ‘be a bit silly at times’.
c) Andrew Dallas awards a dubious penalty for hand-ball in the Betfred Cup Final but fails to book Dom Ball. Dallas had a nightmare in his first cup final
d) Kevin Clancy disallows a perfectly good ‘goal’ by Filip Benkovic in the Motherwell v Celtic match
e) Steven McLean sends off Sam Cosgrove of Aberdeen, a second yellow card, for getting kicked in the foot by Conor Goldson
f) Steven McLean refuses to send off Kyle Lafferty after he smashed into Scott McKenna having been booked earlier in the match
g) Craig Levein is left almost speechless after Andrew Dallas awards an incredible penalty to St Johnstone, Levein described it the contact between Peter Haring and Liam Gordon as ‘softer than soft’
Despite the storm of protest there has been no statement from the SFA with Madden, McLean, Clancy and Dallas all being heavily criticised, the tribute act have been hot with five charges after claiming that there were underlying issues with Willie Collum.
