Scott Sinclair has praise Raheem Sterling for tackling and exposing racism.

The Manchester City winger took a new approach to the issue when he exposed the casual stereotyping of the issue in the media and how that is reflected in society.

An incident involving Chelsea fans caused uproar on social media before the predictable comments and condemnations from the relevant authorities.

Sinclair has regularly suffered racial abuse since moving to Celtic in August 2016 without a comment never mind action from the SFA or SPFL.

Attitudes to racism came into the spotlight after Sterling highlighted the issue on social media with Sinclair pleased to see a new approach to an old problem.

Definitely, I think there’s more light to it now,” the Celtic winger told The Sun. “Even with Raheem still experiencing it down south and speaking out.

It seems that there is more light to it and people are hopefully taking more note of the situation.

In the past players might have been racially abused and thought, ‘Never mind, I’m not going to say anything because nothing gets done’.

Hopefully, as things start being done, we can move into a more positive light.”

The most obvious example that Sinclair suffered of racism was at Ibrox in April 2017 after scoring for Celtic.

Neither club, the SFA, SPFL or PFA Scotland made any comment.

Following the Betfred Cup Final win over Aberdeen earlier this month a video appeared on social media that was condemned by Brendan Rodgers and Derek McInnes.
