Chris Sutton was quick to put no-mark Robbie Savage back in his box after Celtic won the Betfred Cup by beating Aberdeen at Hampden.

The Welsh media specialist won just one major trophy in his career but was quick to latch onto the SPFL Premiership table after a shocking display from Bobby Madden at Tynecastle.

With that match over with the main action switched to Hampden where Aberdeen provided the opposition to Celtic.

Derek McInnes’ side weren’t going to be out muscled but shortly before the break they had no answer to Ryan Christie who netted the only goal of the game.

It was a seventh successive trophy for Brendan Rodgers and the first time that Celtic had won a cup competition three years running since the golden days of Jock Stein.

Despite making a public plea to play in Division Three back in the 2012/13 season Ally McCoist rejected Savage in favour of playing Ian Black.
