Celtic and RB Leipzig had won at home against each other and also won away to Rosenborg.
All that the German side had to do was to win at home to a side that had lost their five previous matches but that proved to be too much of an ask for the Bundesliga side.
Celtic had taken care of Rosenborg in Match Day One with a 1-0 win thanks to a late goal from Leigh Griffiths.
The Europa League places are decided over six matches, while Celtic finished second in their group West Ham, the club of Abrahams have never reached the group phase despite the benefits of a stadium built by tax payers and £100m plus each year from Sky Sports.
