Kieran Tierney has lost his battle to be fit for today’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox.

The defender is listed as a substitute with Brendan Rodgers going with a back three or dropping Callum McGregor in to play at left-back. Olivier Ntcham comes in to partner Scott Brown in midfield with Mikey Johnston starting in attack with Odsonne Edouard on the bench.

Left-back was the big decision for Brendan Rodgers with Tierney missing the last four matches since playing against RB Salzburg.

Wednesday’s win against the odds at Aberdeen gave Celtic some daylight at the top of the SPFL table with Steven Gerrard’s side losing a late equaliser at home to Hibs to fall three points behind.

If Rodgers can engineer a fifth successive Ibrox victory he can celebrate the new year six points ahead of his old Liverpool skipper with the comfort of a game less played.

Celtic’s last visit to Ibrox will be remembered as a tactical masterclass from the Irishman. Celtic were twice behind in the match but despite going down to ten men the introduction of Edouard proved decisive with the hoops winning 3-2.

In his previous visits to Ibrox Rodgers has faced Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha (twice) and Graeme Murty.

CELTIC: Gordon; Lustig, Boyata, Benkovic; McGregor, Ntcham, Brown; Forrest, Christie, Sinclair; Johnston

SUBS: Bain, Edouard, Ajer, Morgan, Hayes, Tierney, Ralston
