One group of Sevco fans hoping to watch their side in Vienna tomorrow were booted off a flight from Glasgow Airport today.

The Lufthansa 3.20pm flight to Munich was halted after an incident on board the aircraft with all passengers removed.

Two hours later the flight finally got off the ground with the ‘west of Scotland’ fans left behind trying to make alternative arrangements.

Security at Glasgow Airport has been stepped up today and tomorrow with reinforcements elsewhere with supporters using various ways to reach the Austrian capital.

Despite an official allocation of just 2,000 tickets around 10,000 fans are expected to make the trip with the usual hardcore travellers from Kilwinning, Bearsden and Larkhall joined by others from across Scotland and England.

A number of ‘sash bashes’ are planned tonight and tomorrow with Austrian Police warning ticket-less fans not to go near the stadium.

Earlier this year a ‘west of Scotland fan’ was jailed for sexual assault on board an Easyjet flight ahead of a friendly match between RB Leipzig and Sevco in January 2017.
