Scott Brown has apparently rejected the offer of a two year contract from Western Melbourne.

According to a report in The Sun the Celtic skipper has decided against moving to Australia after lengthy talks with the new club in the A-League.

Brown is out of contract with Celtic at the end of this season and has been offered an extension with reports of interest in the midfielder from clubs in the United States.

Western Melbourne made their interest in Brown known before they had won their licence to join the A-League but it now appears that they have been unable to come up with the sort of terms first suggested.

With a stadium to fund and a full squad of players to recruit substantial investment will be required with Brown likely to be looking for assurances about the club and management before committing to uproot his family.

Although he is no longer assured of a starting place in the Celtic team he still has an important role to play on the park with his introduction at half-time against RB Salzburg giving Celtic a foothold in the match.

According to the report in The Sun Brown will make a decision on his future at the end of this month.
