Four weeks after his deplorable performance in the Glasgow derby John Beaton is the subject of a banner in his honour from a group of Ibrox fans.

The Lanarkshire based official had an incredible day at the office with most of the controversy surrounding Alfredo Morelos.

Incredibly Beaton failed to speak to or even book the Colombian despite being involved in three incidents that most folk would consider to be borderline red card at least.

The SFA Compliance Officer was expected to apply retrospective punishment but it seems that after speaking to Beaton no action was taken because every incident was witnessed and judged by the match referee. A retrospective suspension would have ruled Morelos out of yesterday’s match which the Ibrox club won 3-0.

Celtic issued a statement requesting that Beaton explains his decisions but that has been knocked back by the SFA who have set up a deflection operation to take attention away from refereeing mistakes.

Following a meeting in Perth it was agreed that VAR would resolve all refereeing issues rather than an investigation into John Fleming’s recruitment process and the domination of the Lanarkshire Referee Association.
