Roger Hannah of The Sun has provided a little meat to the bones of the Filip Benkovic injury story.
News of a season ending injury to the on-loan Leicester City defender was met with dismay as it emerged overnight, firstly in the print edition of The Sun then online at around 7.40am.
At yesterday’s media conference Brendan Rodgers did reveal that Benkovic had suffered a knock that would see him miss tomorrow’s match with St Johnstone but no real detail was given.
Tonight on Radio Clyde’s Super-scoreboard Hannah was asked about the story which appeared in his newspaper.
It seems that further scans have been taken on the leg injury with the most pessimistic diagnosis being that he will miss the remainder of the season. Hopefully the results of the later scans will reduce that timescale.
Celtic haven’t made any comment on the report, Brendan Rodgers’ next media appearance will be on Radio Scotland ahead of the St Johnstone game when he will be asked for an update on Benkovic’s injury.
