Scott Brown will discover the strength of Western Melbourne’s interest this week- the colour of their Australian dollars.

The A-League new boys have enjoyed a run of publicity through their interest in the Celtic skipper but are expected to make a formal offer this week.

Brown will be 34 in June with the offer to move to Australia on a three year contract bound to be tempting if Western Australia can match the wages he currently earns at Celtic.

The hoops are understood to have put together a two year offer which guarantees a coaching role beyond 2021 but the opportunity to finish his playing days in a different country is bound to have appeal with interest in Brown also coming in from the United States.

This season Brown has lost his automatic place in the Celtic side but with Brendan Rodgers’ side struggling to assert themselves in the SPFL Brown’s know how and experience could be a vital factor.

His value on and off the park is acknowledged by Rodgers whose first move as Celtic manager was to reassure the former Hibs midfielder that he had a key role to play in his plans.
