Fulham are expected to resume their interest in Dedryck Boyata.

The Londoners had an £8m bid rejected in the summer ahead of Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers with AEK Athens but are preparing a fresh offer despite a change of manager with Claudio Ranieri now in charge.

Brendan Rodgers refused to sanction a deal due to the lack of alternatives but is expected to be in the January market for new central defenders.

The Daily Mail reports:

Out of contract in the summer, Boyata has declined to sign a new deal and is a January target for Fulham.

At one stage it looked like Boyata wouldn’t play again for Celtic but Rodgers insisted on playing the Belgian who responded with the best form of his career.

His partnership with Filip Benkovic helped Celtic to three wins in the Europa League but was disrupted by injury during the Betfred Cup Final win over Aberdeen at Hampden.

With Benkovic due to return to Leicester City at the end of the season, or earlier, Rodgers is effectively looking for a new central defensive partnership for next season.
