Stephen McManus is being tipped for a coaching role at Celtic.

The 36-year-old is on the coaching staff at Motherwell after ending his playing career with the Lanarkshire club.

According to The Sun:

CELTIC could offer former captain Stephen McManus an academy role.

SunSport understands the Motherwell youth coach is being placed under consideration for a Hoops post.

Damien Duff is expected to be announced as Shaun Maloney’s replacement assisting Tommy McIntyre with the Celtic reserve squad.

There is no obvious vacancy within the Celtic academy structure but with his experience of breaking through the ranks McManus has plenty to offer.

After making a couple of appearances late in the 2003/04 season McManus took his chance when Gordon Strachan replaced Martin O’Neill.

The Bothwell bhoy went on to take over the captaincy from Neil Lennon but moved on to Middlesbrough once Tony Mowbray took over as manager.
