Youssouf Mulumbu and Kundai Benyu are in the Celtic side for today’s Reserve League clash with Partick Thistle at Lesser Hampden, kick off 2pm.

Both players have been linked with moves away from Celtic as Brendan Rodgers attempts to trim down his first team squad.

Mulumbu has been involved in three matches since joining as a free agent in August while Benyu hasn’t made the first team bench at any time this season.

Today’s match will be the first competitive fixture for new coach Damien Duff who has joined Tommy McIntyre in charge of the reserve side following the departure of Shaun Maloney.

Despite the hype about the ‘return of reserve football’ a league programme of just 17 matches has left many players at a loose end, waiting a fortnight, at best between matches.

After today’s match Celtic have got nine games left in the Reserve League, last Saturday a Celtic XI including American trialist Andrew Gutman lost 4-3 in a friendly away to Arbroath.

CELTIC: Willison; Duffy, Welsh, Hill, Church; Mulumbu, McInroy; Oko-Flex, Benyu, Miller; Aitchison

SUBS: Hughes, Mazis, Diver, Caffret, Savoury, Bell
