Rodgers gets massive striker boost

Odsonne Edouard has confirmed his return to fitness- and hinted towards a new look Celtic strike force.

The striker hasn’t started any matches in the last month but did come on to play a key role in the December 26 win away to Aberdeen.

Edouard was confined to light training during Celtic’s warm weather break in Dubai but has now resumed full training at chilly Lennoxtown.

Mikey Johnston and Oliver Burke have lined up at centre-forward in Celtic’s last two matches but it seems that Brendan Rodgers is about to get some additional options including the possibility of playing a joint strike-force.

Edouard isn’t expected to be involved in Wednesday’s match against St Mirren but should be in the squad for Saturday’s visit from Hamilton Accies.

With Leigh Griffiths hitting the treadmill and Vakoun Issouf Bayo awaiting the paperwork to complete his £2m transfer Brendan Rodgers will soon have a surplus of striking options.
