Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Anthony Ralston will be out of action for a number of weeks.

The teenager has made four appearances since the Christmas period and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Scottish Cup win over Airdrie United/Clydebank.

Near the end of the match he landed awkwardly on his left ankle forcing him out of last night’s win over St Mirren.

Before that match Rodgers told Radio Scotland: “Tony Ralston has been very good for us but he had a bad injury at the weekend which is going to put him out for number of weeks which is really disappointing.

Laterally in the game he landed really awkwardly, damaged quite badly his ankle ligaments so that is going to put him out for a while but he have the experience of Mikael to come in.

Sometimes you can’t do anything about injuries, he twisted his ankle and that’s just unfortunate.”

Lustig came into the Celtic side last night but there was no place on the bench for Cristian Gamboa which would suggest that Kris Ajer is now the second choice right-back. Lustig and Gamboa are both out of contract in the summer.

The Swede barely had any time off during the summer as Sweden reached the last eight of the World Cup with Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers coming in the same month.

Dedryck Boyata missed last night’s match through a groin injury but is expected to be available for Saturday’s match against Hamilton Accies.
