Somewhere in the SFA rule book players and officials are forbidden from talking down other member clubs, players and manager.

Like many of their rules it can be overlooked at the discretion of the relevant committee, much like the regulations for registering payments being made to players, coaches, managers and directors.

Kris Boyd appears to be a law onto himself, becoming the ‘go-to-guy’ for many media outlets looking to talk up problems at Celtic. From transfer policy to the split dressing room the Kilmarnock veteran has the inside track on all issues with Sky Sports, TalkSPORT, BBC Scotland and The Sun all happy to spread the views of the former Ibrox ace who has never discussed the £215,000 that he received from the old Ibrox club as disguised remuneration, paid off shore without deduction of Income Tax or National Insurance.

“I think Brendan Rodgers would want to finish the season up here and finish it on a high as Celtic manager,” Boyd told TalkSPORT this morning after being asked by Jim White about speculation linking the Celtic boss with the non-vacancy at Leicester.

If Leicester are to get rid of Claude Puel then they need to get a manager in. If he doesn’t take it then he might miss out on that job.

It’s a fantastic job. It’s only a couple of seasons ago that you were talking about Leicester being the champions of England. It’s definitely a club that have got lots of money. It would be very difficult to go win the league again but there’s potential there to create something.

Brendan likes a project, there’s no doubt about that. You see what he’s done at other clubs and it might be the start of something for Leicester again as well to stay at the top end of English football. If he’s given the opportunity, I fully expect him to take it. But there’s no doubt Celtic fans and the players and board would want him to stay there until the end of the season.”

Boyd didn’t discuss the possibility of Steve Clarke moving to Leicester, Steven Gerrard wouldn’t be eligible due to his lack of coaching qualifications.
