Cardiff are preparing a £2m bid for Josh Maja who is apparently also interesting Celtic.

A report in The Sun claims that the EPL strugglers are ready to make an offer that Sunderland may find difficult to resist. Convincing the player to join the Welsh side managed by Neil Warnock may prove much more difficult.

Maja has knocked back a couple of offers of a new contract from Sunderland with his current deal, his first professional contract running out in June.

Celtic would only have to pay a token development fee for the 20-year-old at the end of the season while a move to Cardiff would be valued by the FA in England.

With 16 goals to his name Maja has been vital to Sunderland’s promotion prospects, as his contract runs down the Londoner is the centre of attention with no shortage of interest in his services.

Celtic can offer him the ‘Dembele deal’ and the opportunity to play in a team geared towards attacking football although they will also have to compete financially with offers coming in from English clubs.
