Celtic have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Jeremy Toljan.

The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour with the German side this season but seems ideally placed to solve Celtic’s problems at right-back.

The story comes from Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail with the BBC reporting:

Interest in Timothy Castagne of Atalanta and Omar Elabdellaoui of Olympiakos appears to have ran into a brick wall while ankle ligament damage to Tony Ralston has highlighted the dire need to bring in a new right-back.

Toljan is a former German u-21 internationalist, moving to Dortmund in 2017 from Hoffenheim.

After making 16 appearances last season he has fallen out of favour opening the door for a loan move with Celtic offering a similar environment as Dortmund.

Brendan Rodgers is well connected and well respected across the European game with Celtic’s crowds recorded as in the top 15 by UEFA last week.

Celtic have until Thursday to complete any transfers and register new signings for the Europa League ties against Valencia.
