Youssouf Mulumbu is a transfer target for Derby County and Kilmarnock.

According to a report in the Daily Record (at 7.16am) the midfielder is being eyed up by both clubs after his summer move to Celtic failed to take off.

Mulumbu was viewed as a cheap alternative to John McGinn after the hoops lost out on the Hibs midfielder to Aston Villa.

Last season the former Norwich and West Brom midfielder was in outstanding form for Kilmarnock and credited with a huge impact on their turnaround.

A return to Rugby Park would clearly appeal to the player but Celtic would get a higher portion of his wages paid if he moved south to Derby County.

Mulumbu has only made three first team appearances, including a stormy debut at Rugby Park with his Celtic hopes killed off by the emergence of Ryan Christie.

On Monday he made his first reserve team appearance of the season in a 4-1 win over Partick Thistle which now looks like a run out to prove his fitness before moving out on loan.
