Celtic’s one enduring European class feature

One aspect about Celtic Park European nights never disappoints- the support.

The ground is unrecognisable from the old stadium that witnessed the magic of the Lisbon Lions with Celtic Park one the Bucket List of most top players and football fans.

During the summer Celtic invested in the ‘disco lights’, with a lack of new faces and no Champions League football through the autumn that expenditure suddenly became a stick to hit the club with.

The lights redeemed themselves in November when they illuminated a dramatic win over RB Leipzig that brought Celtic’s Europa League hopes back to life.

While the lights are impressive they only compliment the singing of the support with no European night complete without You’ll Never Walk Alone swirling around the stadium.

Last night the section hosting the Valencia support became a wall of camera-phones pre-match, unfortunately the 90 minutes that followed turned out to be much more memorable for the away support than the 59,000 Celtic fans who left the stadium in virtual silence.
