Scott Allan could be in line for the most amazing turnaround in his incredible career.

With Neil Lennon in caretaker charge of Celtic the midfielder could be on the brink of his first hoops appearance in three years- just months before he is due to join Hibs.

One of Lennon’s final acts in charge at Easter Road was to get Allan to sign a pre-contract agreement after working with the 27-year-old during the second half of last season.

One of Lennon’s biggest tasks at Celtic is to assess his midfield options with Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor joining Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham in the treatment room.

Under Brendan Rodgers Allan was sent on loan to Doncaster, Dundee and Hibs, this season he was left out in the cold until a fortnight ago when he played his first Reserve League match of the season against Falkirk.

On Monday Allan played the full 90 minutes for Celtic reserves against Kilmarnock which could be perfectly timed in view of the events of the 24 hours that followed.

Whether Lennon will be at Celtic next season remains to be seen, once that issue is resolved there may be uncomfortable conversations to be held with Hibs.
