Benkovic gives injury update

Filip Benkovic is hoping that he ‘won’t be out for a long time’ with his ankle injury.

Following Celtic’s 3-0 win over Hamilton Accies last month it emerged that the defender had completed the match with an ankle injury.

Initially The Sun claimed that e could be out of action for the rest of the season but Brendan Rodgers reduced the timespan to around six weeks.

That would rule the on-loan Leicester City defender out of action until mid-March as Celtic compete on three fronts.

Today The Sun has some quotes from Benkovic, they also claim that he said he is a magnet for injuries without reproducing that quote.

They report:

Up until the injury, everything was super. I was so happy. I have to do all the examinations, then we will know the diagnosis and recovery time.

I enjoy being at Celtic, the coach trusts me and I have played a lot of big games. Hopefully I won’t be out for a long time.”

Jozo Simunovic has came into the Celtic side since Benkovic was injured but he now faces a potential suspension after desperate elements of the Ibrox support searched for an incident to equate with Allan McGregor’s attack on Lewis Ferguson.
