Ryan Christie wants to put Valencia onto the back burner when Celtic kick off at Kilmarnock today.

Since Thursday’s defeat in the Europa League almost every aspect of Celtic has been discussed from recruitment to tactics with various stops in-between.

Christie excelled in the group matches at home to RB Leipzig and away to Rosenborg but like many of his team-mates struggled against the Spanish side.

The gap between domestic and European opponents only seems to be growing but the big debates will be put on hold when the match kicks off at Kilmarnock today.

They punished us for every mistake we made and we need to learn from that, because teams in Europe are going to do that to you,” Christie told the Daily Record.

It’s a learning curve. We don’t have much time to think about it, we need to switch on again for Kilmarnock but we’ll turn it around and be positive by the time we get to the game over in Valencia.

If we get an early goal out there it changes everything. We’re far from completely out of it, although obviously we’ve given ourselves a hard task. We’ll try to learn from Thursday though.”

Yesterday’s results give Celtic every incentive to win today with the prize of an eight point lead at the top of the table on offer.

With a dozen games to go that sort of lead would be significant with the hoops also having a double figure goal difference advantage.

Rodgers is expected to make a couple of changes but the goal threat from Christie is likely to feature in the starting XI.
