John Kennedy took training on Tuesday to prepare for the match against Hearts with Neil Lennon appointed as assistant manager at 6.30pm on Tuesday.
Hearts sensed weakness in the champions and threw everything into the first half collecting three yellow cards and an ordering off in the process.
As the clock struck 90 the scores were tied at 1-1 when Scott Brown sent a cross into the penalty box.
In a flash Odsonne Edouard put the ball in the net, Celtic supporters celebrated wildly with the eight point advantage at the top of the table maintained.
At the final whistle there were emotional scenes as Lennon greeted the players who had delivered the result everyone at Celtic required. The bond between players and manager seemed as strong as ever, with Rodgers watching from Leicester there seems to be minimal disruption as as Celtic close in on an eighth successive title win.
