The Bayo Report

Vakoun Issouf Bayo played for an hour of today’s Reserve League win over Falkirk as his Celtic career kicked off in earnest.

The Ivorian didn’t get among the goals as Celtic won 4-1 with Jack Aitchison and Armstrong Oko-Flex both scoring twice.

Bayo played straight through the centre and looked a few weeks away from making an impact in the first team. Next Monday’s Reserve League match at Kilmarnock seems a more realistic target than Sunday’s first team fixture.

For the first half hour he looked a bit isolated but after Aitchison replaced the injured Wallace Duffy there was a bit more purpose to Celtic’s attacking play with the teenager on loan at Alloa playing between Bayo and Oko Flex.

Former Celt Leo Fasan pulled off a good first half save from the debutante who also sent a second half effort from a corner over the bar when he should have hit the target.

Celtic took over and dominated the second half after equalising just before half time with Falkirk forced deeper and deeper.

Armstrong Oko-Flex and Aitchison understand the system and the way that their team-mates operate, with another week of training Bayo will be looking to make an impact next week against Kilmarnock then look towards making in roads towards a first team place.
