Kieran Tierney WON’T play a part in tomorrow’s Europa League tie against Valencia.

The defender has been in full training for a week and looked relaxed and confident in pictures taken at training this morning.

That seemed to signal that he was ready for a dramatic return but Brendan Rodgers ruled that out as he faced the media this afternoon to look at the Valencia tie.

The defender hasn’t kicked a ball since the December 13 defeat from RB Leipzig after being laid low by a hip injury. Tierney did make the bench at Ibrox for the final match of 2018 but hasn’t featured in any of Celtic’s matches since returning from the winter break in Dubai.

Last Friday Brendan Rodgers declared that his first pick left-back had resumed full training but there was no sign of Tierney in the matchday squad against St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup or in Monday’s Reserve League win over Falkirk.

Jonny Hayes, Callum McGregor and Emilio Izaguirre have filled in at left-back in Tierney’s absence with some suggestions that Jeremy Toljan or Mikael Lustig could switch flank for the clash against Valencia.
