Kieran Tierney looked like someone about to end a two month wait when he was pictured at training this morning.

The defender hasn’t kicked a ball since the December 13 defeat from RB Leipzig after being laid low by a hip injury but is being tipped to start against Valencia tomorrow night.

Tierney did make the bench at Ibrox for the final match of 2018 but hasn’t featured in any of Celtic’s matches since returning from the winter break in Dubai.

Last Friday Brendan Rodgers declared that his first pick left-back had resumed full training but there was no sign of Tierney in the match-day squad against St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup or in Monday’s Reserve League win over Falkirk.

Jonny Hayes, Callum McGregor and Emilio Izaguirre have filled in at left-back in Tierney’s absence with some suggestions that Jeremy Toljan or Mikael Lustig could switch flank for the clash against Valencia.

Judging by the smile on Tierney’s face this morning it looks like the left-back decision has already been taken which should generate an extra roar when the teams emerge from the tunnel at Celtic Park.
