Chris Sutton couldn’t hold back on his praise for Scott Brown tonight- and wasn’t slow to let the midfielders critics know his feelings!

The Celtic skipper picked up an early booking but proceeded to put in a disciplined, driven performance as the hoops restored some pride as they lost out on a 3-0 aggregate to Valencia.

Brown was far from alone, there wasn’t a failure in a Celtic jersey, but his experience and know how was a constant support for his younger team-mates.

The 37th minute ordering off of Jeremy Toljan had a massive impact on the match but straight away the skipper was re-organising his side to the instructions of Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic survived to the break without losing a goal, at the start of the second half Valencia laid siege on the hoops but Scott Bain’s goal was defended magnificently.

Eventually the Spanish side made the breakthrough when substitute Kevin Gameiro netted in the 70th minute to kill off the tie.

Before Christmas there was plenty of fans and pundits lining up to attack Brown- with a domestic treble up for grabs Celtic’s main man is in top form for the business end of the season.
