Gary Irvine certainly made a memorable first impression on Forfar Athletic with a stunning 30 yard goal on his debut against Airdrie.

The full-back only recently joined the League One side but marked his debut in style with the opening goal against Airdrie to keep Forfar in contention for a play-off place.

Irvine came through the youth ranks at Celtic but left the club in 2007 with only a few pre-season friendly appearances to his name.

After a spell on loan at Ross County he cut out a decent career for himself with St Johnstone and Dundee where he made a combined tally of over 250 league appearances.

Last season he made seven Championship appearances for St Mirren as they claimed the title.

At the end of last season who took a break from playing to help out with coaching the youth teams at Dundee but was tempted back into action, signing a short term deal until the end of the season for Forfar boss Jim Weir.
