Andrew Dallas has been dropped from this weekend’s Scottish Cup appointments.

Last weekend the Lanarkshire based official was trusted with one of the top six fixtures in the Scottish game but with eight Scottish Cup ties on Saturday and Sunday Dallas will have to watch from the sidelines as fourth official to Euan Anderson at the Aberdeen v Queen of the South tie.

After awarding four penalties at Ibrox, three of which have been debated at length on social media, Dallas has been taken out of the spotlight while Nick Walsh and Anderson are handed Scottish Cup ties.

Walsh has been given the Celtic v St Johnstone game on Sunday while Alan Muir will referee Saturday’s tea time clash from Kilmarnock where Steven Gerrard’s side are the visitors.

So far the SFA haven’t made any comment on the four penalties awarded at Ibrox but their PR expert Daryl Broadfoot sent out the message on Radio Scotland last night that he’d expect Dallas to be demoted.

The usual pattern is for an under pressure referee to get a couple of lower division matches then be reintroduced to the top flight with games involving Motherwell, St Johnstone, Hamilton and Dundee before they then get back involved with the top, televised fixtures.
