After getting over-excited by a penalty shoot-out in 2016 you’d expect Adrian Durham to be wary about wading into Scottish football matters.

The flush of excitement caused by Celtic’s losing a penalty shoot out led the TalkSPORT presenter into claiming that Mark Warburton was a future England manager.

Within a year of that freak result Warburton had left Ibrox under a cloud then lasted nine months in charge of Nottingham Forest which included the close season.

Clearly the thrill of seeing Celtic losing had impacted Durham’s judgement, since his ‘Warbo for England’ claim the hoops have scooped up seven successive trophies as a succession of Ibrox saviours have been destroyed as myths.

Scott Brown has been at the heart of Celtic’s dominance, he isn’t the most skill-full or eye catching of players but he has the drive to succeed and will-to-win that seems to have by-passed a generation of Academy produced players.

“I am looking at somebody who is over-celebrating, but realistically we all thought Celtic were going to win the league.

“We all thought Celtic would finish way ahead of Kilmarnock, it’s not such a big deal that Celtic have beaten Kilmarnock.

“It’s a very fortunate, deflected winner. He hasn’t scored the goal of the season there Scott Brown.

“But as a leader, as somebody who sets the tone at that football club, somebody who is so well-respected at that football club.

“What Scott Brown should’ve done – instead of going marauding off, beating his chest and kissing the badge and telling the fans how brilliant he is – is just stick your arms by your side, turn around walk back to the centre circle and get on with the game.

Perhaps when Steven Gerrard joins the scrapheap that has claimed Ally McCoist, Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha the TalkSPORT presenter might give credit to Celtic’s incredible run of success. Or maybe not.
