Mikael Lustig has added to Celtic’s defensive worries ahead of the Glasgow derby lasting only 24 minutes of Sweden’s European Championship clash with Romania tonight.

The 32-year-old started last week’s 1-0 defeat of Dundee in central defence but was back in his favoured position of right-back on international duty.

Lustig is likely to fly back to Celtic tomorrow to have his injury assessed as Neil Lennon’s defensive options for next Sunday’s derby clash are further reduced..

Kieran Tierney flew home early from Scotland duty with Dedryck Boyata pulling out of Belgium’s clash with Cyprus tomorrow for personal reasons.

It will be Thursday, when Kris Ajer returns to Lennoxtown that Lennon can start to put his defensive plans together with the only positive news being that Filip Benkovic came through 45 minutes of a bounce game against Morton unscathed on Friday.

Ajer is in action for Norway against Spain tonight before facing Sweden on Tuesday evening.
