Scott Brown can’t wait for the return of Callum McGregor.

The midfielder has missed Celtic’s last four matches after injuring a calf away to Valencia but is expected to be involved at some stage against Dundee on Sunday.

With Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham still to feature this year the loss of McGregor, capable of playing in three or more positions, has been keenly felt even though the 0-0 draw with Aberdeen on Saturday was the first domestic slip up in 2019.

Brown has watched McGregor develop from a squad player into a first pick over the last three seasons and is looking forward to a re-union on Sunday.

I think any player would miss having Callum in there,” the Celtic skipper told The Evening Times. “He has been exceptional for us over the last two or three seasons.

His work rate is phenomenal and he just gives us so much in terms of being able to pick out a pass or score a few goals himself. He is a quality player and getting him back into the team should give everyone a bit of a lift.”

It seems that McGregor is the only player from the injured list that is likely to return to action at Dundee.

With an international break coming up it is unlikely that Neil Lennon will be able to bring in more than two more for the Glasgow derby on March 31 due to lack of match fitness.
